All Cameos in Deadpool & Wolverine, who returned

11 Jaw-Dropping Cameos in Deadpool & Wolverine – You Won’t Believe Who’s Back

In Deadpool & Wolverine, Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine isn’t the only notable appearance; the film is packed with cameos from the X-Men, Fantastic Four, and Marvel cinematic universes.

Deadpool explains the post-Disney-Fox merger that unified these characters under Disney’s banner. Banished to The Void, a dumping ground for forgotten characters, Deadpool and Wolverine encounter several whose movies were abandoned. The film ends with a nostalgic montage of behind-the-scenes footage from various X-Men and Fantastic Four films, set to Green Day’s “Good Riddance.

Chris Evans as The Human Torch

If you missed the 2010s, Chris Evans skyrocketed to fame as Captain America in the Avengers movies. Many fans attribute the recent MCU slump to his departure after Avengers: Endgame. Audiences, like Deadpool, were thrilled to see Evans return. Initially, Deadpool and Wolverine hear his voice and see his chiseled jawline. However, in a humorous twist, instead of saying “Avengers, assemble!” Evans shouts “Flame on!” and ignites, only to be quickly extinguished by the villains. This cameo nods to Evans’ pre-MCU role as Johnny Storm, the Human Torch, in Fantastic Four. As Evans lies smoldering, Wolverine says, “We don’t know that guy,” and Deadpool adds, a bit dejected, “We thought we did.”

Henry Cavill as Wolverine

In a nod to fans, Deadpool encounters a Wolverine played by Henry Cavill. Known for his role as Superman in Warner Bros. DC Comics movies, Cavill’s mustache removal in Justice League reshoots was widely criticized. Deadpool jokes that Disney will treat Cavill better than Warner Bros. did

The Hulk

At the start of the movie, Deadpool hops between universes to find a Wolverine who can help save the world. He meets several Logan variants across different timelines, including one battling the Hulk, likely Edward Norton’s version from the 2008 film before Mark Ruffalo took over the role.

Wesley Snipes as Blade

Before Iron Man, Spider-Man, or the X-Men hit the big screen, there was Blade. Wesley Snipes’ portrayal of the vampire hunter in the 1998 film is often credited with starting the modern era of comic book movies.

After a long hiatus, Snipes returns, quipping, “There’s only ever been one Blade. There only ever going to be one Blade.” This line references the troubled reboot starring Mahershala Ali, announced in 2019 but plagued by delays, lost directors, and rewrites. Fans even joked that Black Panther director Ryan Coogler started his own vampire movie out of frustration with the delays. However, Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige recently reassured fans that the Ali movie is still in the works and will have an R-rating.

Channing Tatum as Gambit

Channing Tatum spent a decade trying to make a Gambit movie, falling in love with the Cajun thief from the X-Men franchise and co-writing an R-rated rom-com screenplay. The project got stuck in development hell, with directors like Gore Berinsky and Doug Liman joining and leaving. The Disney-Fox merger seemed to kill Tatum’s Gambit dreams—until now. Tatum’s Gambit laments never getting his own movie, his adventures cut short before they began.

In Deadpool & Wolverine, Tatum’s Gambit is comically ridiculous, with an incomprehensible accent. Deadpool mocks Tatum’s poor accent work and worries about the audience missing key exposition. Gambit’s ability to make playing cards explode seems silly until he starts blowing up bad guys.

Blake Lively as Lady Deadpool

Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively, one of Hollywood’s most enduring couples, have been seen together at Taylor Swift’s concerts and traveling to each other’s shoots to keep their family close. It was only a matter of time before Lively made a cameo in one of Reynolds’ action films, appearing as Lady Deadpool, the female version of the Merc with a Mouth.

Though Lively’s face remains unseen under the mask, the film includes several nods to her. Early on, Deadpool mentions there are 206 bones in the human body, adding “207 if I’m watching Gossip Girl,” a reference to Lively’s breakout TV role. Later, during a fight, Deadpool exclaims, “I’m telling Blake!” Additionally, another Deadpool version praises Lady Deadpool, noting, “She just had a baby, and you can’t even tell,” referencing Lively and Reynolds’ fourth child. When Lady Deadpool finally appears, she sports a long, high blonde ponytail reminiscent of the one Lively wore to the movie premiere.

The movie’s villain, Cassandra Nova, has assembled a team of henchmen from past X-Men films, including Toad (Ray Park) from X-Men, Lady Deathstroke (Kelly Hu) from X2: X-Men United, Pyro (Aaron Stanford) from X-Men: The Last Stand, and Colossus (Stefan Kapiti) from Deadpool.

Tyler Mane’s Sabretooth

There have been two versions of Sabretooth in the Hugh Jackman Wolverine movies. Tyler Mane played the clawed villain in the first X-Men movie, battling Wolverine on the Statue of Liberty before Cyclops blasted him off with his laser vision.

Liev Schreiber later took over the role in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, where it was revealed that Sabretooth and Wolverine are half-brothers—a detail not from the comics.  Origins received poor reviews, leading many fans to dismiss it. Deadpool even goes back in time in Deadpool 2 to kill his character from that film.

When Mane’s Sabretooth appears in Deadpool & Wolverine, Deadpool excitedly tells Wolverine that “people have waited decades for this fight,” likely referring to their rematch from the original X-Men movie.

Jennifer Garner as Elektra

While stuck in the Void, Deadpool and Wolverine encounter other superheroes banished there. One of the first is Elektra, played by Jennifer Garner in Daredevil and her solo film Elektra.

Elektra and her friends list the superheroes Cassandra has killed, including Daredevil, who was portrayed by Garner’s ex-husband Ben Affleck. Deadpool apologizes to Elektra for Daredevil’s death, and she responds, “It’s fine,” winking at the audience about their real-life separation.

Ant-Man’s corpse

Is this even a cameo? Nova uses a giant Ant-Man corpse as her headquarters in The Void. It’s unclear which Ant-Man was sent there or how he died. When Ant-Man’s skull is revealed, Deadpool quips, “Paul Rudd finally aged.”

Dafne Keene as X-23

Deadpool sets the tone early, joking in a voiceover about how they’ll resurrect Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine while respecting his noble death in Logan. “We’re not,” Deadpool quips, before exhuming Wolverine’s adamantium skeleton and using his bones to kill enemies.

The film does honor X-23, played by Dafne Keen in Logan. As a child experimented on with Wolverine’s DNA, she is essentially his clone or daughter, depending on how you view it. In Deadpool & Wolverine, she appears to encourage Wolverine, reminding him that despite his past, he’s capable of saving the world.
